From Western Australia to Swell Seekers Africa: A Surf Journey Fueled by Grit & Waves

I spent years working in the mines of Western Australia, deep inland under harsh conditions and long shifts. But every break I got, I’d escape to the coast—Margaret River was my release, my reset, and ultimately, the birthplace of what would become Swell Seekers Africa.
🌊 Surfing Margaret River: Where the Grind Meets the Swell
If you’ve surfed Margaret River, you know it’s not for the faint of heart. The reefs are razor-sharp, the paddle-outs punishing, and the Indian Ocean swell hits with full force. It’s raw, powerful, and unforgiving—but that’s what makes it so special.
Those sessions between mining shifts taught me more than just timing a drop. They taught me balance, respect for nature, and the healing power of surf. That duality—grind and glide, work and wave—laid the foundation for something bigger.
🌍 The Birth of Swell Seekers Africa
What began as surf escapes in Western Australia has evolved into Swell Seekers Africa—a platform built for adventure surfers, cultural explorers, and anyone drawn to the energy of uncrowded coastlines and deep local connections.
We’re not just about finding the perfect wave (though we do that too). We’re about:
Tapping into new surf frontiers across Africa
Partnering with local surf communities
Building sustainable, responsible surf travel
And most of all—sharing stories from the water that shape who we are
🏄 From the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic: Surf Africa with Us
Africa’s coasts remind me of early surf days in WA—raw, powerful, and full of potential. From the powerful points of Morocco to the long tropical walls in Liberia, there’s magic here that many surfers haven’t discovered—yet.
At Swell Seekers Africa, we’re opening that door. Whether you’re chasing:
The heavy rights of Cape Verde
The playful beach breaks of Ghana
The wild coastline of Mozambique
Or the cool, crisp swell lines of South Africa
We’ll get you there—with local know-how, ethical travel partners, and a deep respect for the places we surf.
🌱 Built on Respect: Mining Grit, Surf Soul
Just like WA mining taught me to respect the land, Swell Seekers Africa is built on respect—for the oceans, the cultures, and the communities that call these coastlines home.
We reinvest in:
Local surf schools
Youth development through surf
Women-led surf initiatives
Sustainable tourism practices that protect Africa’s pristine coastlines
